LEGO FACTORY COMING INTO OPERATION: Achievement of "welcoming" green capital
After more than two years of dedicated efforts, on the afternoon of April 9, the Denmark’s LEGO Group officially inaugurated LEGO Manufacturing Vietnam factory at the Vietnam - Singapore III Industrial Park in Binh Duong province. The project is the result of proactive and active involvement by leaders of the Government, ministries, central agencies and Bind Duong province in seizing timely opportunities for cooperation and attracting a new generation of foreign direct investment that is green, sustainable and environmentally friendly.
LEGO Group’s most sustainable factory
The inauguration ceremony of the factory was attended by former Politburo Member and former State President Nguyen Minh Trite; Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh; Nguyen Van Loi, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee and Head of provincial National Assembly Deputy Delegation; Vo Van Minh, Vice Secretary of provincial Party Committee and Chairman of provincial People's Committee; Niels B. Christiansen, CEO of LEGO Group, along with leaders of ministries, central agencies, Bind Duong province and diplomatic missions in Vietnam.

LEGO factory at the Vietnam - Singapore III Industrial Park (VSIP III) is expected to generate over 4,000 jobs, especially create opportunities for young workers to gain access to modern skills and participate in the global value chain. The factory is projected to operate 100% on renewable energy by early 2026. In addition to installing 12,400 rooftop solar panels, LEGO Group announced a key cooperative agreement with VSIP to develop an energy center on an adjacent plot of land. This energy center will integrate Vietnam’s first large-scale battery energy storage solution and is expected to be operational by the end of 2025. The remaining renewable energy demand will be met through Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).
Niels B. Christiansen, CEO of LEGO Group stated: “Today marks a significant milestone as we officially inaugurate our sixth factory worldwide. We are deeply grateful to the Government, ministries and agencies of Vietnam as well as Binh Duong province for their strong support in enabling LEGO to complete the construction of this factory on schedule. This is ‘a very right decision’ for the LEGO Group”.
Achievement in proactively attracting green investment
In 2022, LEGO Group decided to invest in Vietnam, selecting VSIP III as the site for the project. Leaders of Binh Duong province, along with local departments and VSIP joint venture company, recognized this as not only a source of pride and honor but also a significant responsibility, given the enormous volume of work required and the limited time available to complete procedures related to planning, land use, construction, environment, fire prevention and control. However, thanks to the close and timely direction from the Government and the Prime Minister, as well as the dedicated, responsible guidance and support from ministries and central agencies, the project was successfully coordinated and implemented on schedule.

On behalf of provincial leaders, Vo Van Minh, Vice Secretary of provincial Party Committee and Chairman of provincial People's Committee congratulated LEGO Vietnam Co., Ltd. on its initial success as it officially inaugurated LEGO Group’s second factory in Asia and sixth factory in the world. Mr. Minh affirmed that with over 30 years of experience in attracting foreign investment, along with a smart and sustainable development strategy, combined with LEGO Group’s methodical, scientific and advanced investment and production plan, provincial leaders strongly believe that operations at the LEGO factory in VSIP III will proceed smoothly, efficiently with continuous growth.
The province is committed to always accompanying and creating the best conditions for the factory's production activities and the Lego Group's business goals in Vietnam to achieve the best results, thereby not only firmly affirming the Lego brand on a global scale, but also contributing to consolidating, strengthening and deepening the very good strategic partnership between the Governments and people of Vietnam and Denmark, especially in the fields of science - technology, innovation, green development and digital transformation.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh highly appreciated the LEGO Group's commitment to green, sustainable and environmentally friendly development, with the goal of zero carbon emissions. He affirmed that the presence of the LEGO factory is a testament to Binh Duong province’s attractiveness in drawing major global manufacturing corporations. The Vietnamese Government will continue accompanying foreign investors in general and Danish enterprises, including the LEGO Group in particular, supporting their long-term and sustainable growth. LEGO’s success is also Vietnam’s success.
Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh emphasized that the LEGO factory project at VSIP III has become a symbol of sustainable cooperation between Vietnam and Denmark. With its mission to spread creative inspiration and commitment to sustainable development—“inspiring children through the highest quality bricks”—LEGO is sure to become a pioneering model for other industries in Vietnam. It promotes a spirit of innovation and social responsibility, contributing to building a brighter future for generations in the future. The inauguration ceremony of the Lego Factory at VSIP III Industrial Park is the result of cooperation and consensus between Vietnam, Denmark and the Lego Group, demonstrating the spirit of "building the future together".
WITH TOTAL INVESTMENT OF MORE THAN US$ 1 BILLION, LEGO FACTORY IN VSIP III IS LEGO GROUP’s 6TH FACTORY WORLDWIDE AND 2ND FACTORY IN ASIA, BRINGING PRACTICAL BENEFITS TO THE LOCALITY AND THE WHOLE COUNTRY.
