Binh Duong’s delegation pays gift visit to officials, soldiers and people on Tho Chau island

During their trip, on January 6, members of Binh Duong province’s delegation visited, encouraged and wished a happy New Year to officials, soldiers and residents on Tho Chu Island, part of Phu Quac city’s Tho Chau commune in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang. The gifts sent from the mainland to the soldiers on the remote island were words of encouragement, wishing them a peaceful, happy and warm New Year.

Tho Chu Archipelago consists of 8 large and small islands, with Tho Chu Island being the largest one. In addition to the Party committees, authorities and mass organizations of Tho Chau Commune, there are stationed forces on the island, including Radar Station 610 of Regiment 551 under the Region 5 Naval Command; Lighthouse Station under the Ministry of Transport; Meteorological Station under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment; Regiment 152 under Military Zone 9; Tho Chau Border Guard Station of Kien Giang provincial Border Guard Force; Brigade 25 of Engineering under the Military Zone 9 and the Coast Guard Station under the Coast Guard Region 4.

During the journey to visit, encourage and extend Tet greetings  to officials, soldiers and residents on Tho Chu island, Binh Duong province’s delegation, along with other delegations from southern provinces and cities, organizations, businesses and press agencies, respectfully offered flowers and incense at the Ho Chi Minh Memorial and paid tribute to heroes and martyrs as well as people who were killed by the Khmer Rouge regime.
