Agriculture and rural development sector further upholds results done
On the afternoon of January 6, provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DoARD) held a conference to implement planning, review activities in 2024 and set tasks for 2025, in attendance of Mai Hung Dung, Member of provincial Party Standing Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of provincial People’s Committee.
In 2024, under the strong direction of the Government and provincial People's Committee, the entire Agriculture and Rural Development sector strictly adhered to and complied with regulations. Also thanks to proactive management and administration, the province's agricultural production achieved positive results.
Accordingly, the province’s cultivation field continued restructuring towards high-tech agriculture and organic farming. The area for annual crops reached 19,463.1 hectares and the area for perennial crops was 142,105.1 hectares. Of the total figure, the area applying high-tech agriculture was approximately 6,960 hectares; the urban agriculture area was about 200 hectares, with major crops, including hydroponic vegetables, sprouts, mushrooms, orchids and ornamental plants.
Currently, the entire province has approximately 600 hectares of agricultural production following organic farming practices, with 171.5 hectares certified. There are 488 organizations or individuals that have been evaluated and certified under VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards. A total of 32 growing area codes have been issued for 18 facilities, 13 packaging facility codes for 10 export facilities and 11 growing area codes for 11 domestic facilities.
Speaking at the conference, Mai Hung Dung suggested provincial DoARD to focus resources on implementing key tasks to create development momentum such as accelerating digital transformation, enhancing the application of science and technology, fostering innovation, implementing solutions to respond to climate change, developing digital economy, green economy, circular economy and shared economy... On this occasion, many organizations and individuals were honored for their significant contributions to the development of the agriculture and rural development sector in 2024.
